A little bit of rain wasn’t going to stop this wedding from happening with all the excitement, love, and happiness Tara and Josh and their guests had bottled up, ready to let out at the right moment. And oh did that moment come as soon as they said I do! We were there for their ceremony and reception and helped them ring in their first day together as husband and wife in style. Couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day at a stunning venue. Congrats again!
What a wonderful start to the event season! Working with Christopher and Jeremy over several months to plan out their amazing reception was a absolute pleasure and their vision was a wonderful channel for our team to nail, not only the music playlist, but the lighting design we did for the entire (we mean the whole back space there at Bold Rock Cindery) to really set the mood for their wedding day. We also designed and programed a custom light show for their dance floor, such a rare thing for weddings, and a challenge we were ready for! All of the large and small details really showed their personality and made this quite the unique and fun wedding. The pop-pie for food, the food trucks with tacos, fish and chips, and other fair-like food, and the ice cream sandwich toast! It was such a wonderful night of dancing, food, drinks, and love. Congrats you guys!

What a wonderful day was Cody and Mady's wedding day at King Family Vineyard in Crozet. Just a short drive from our home office, this was our first visit to King Family and hopefully not our last. The sky was full of wonderful white fluffy clouds and the bluest skies, and the sunset dropping below the valley in the distance. Picture perfect is a bit cliche but a accurate description. We ran sound for the ceremony as well as DJ'ed and setup lighting in The Carriage House and couldn't ask for a better setting for a evening of amazing food, donuts, wine, and dancing.
We've have several amazing options and layouts for King Family Vineyard already and we put those recommendations to work for Cody and Mady. We set up our large 4 speaker PA system to spread sound throughout the room, a wireless speaker was set up in The North Gallery to feed sound for the cocktail hour as well as the rest of the night as ran sound for the ceremony outside in the back field. What we love about The Carriage House is with the dance floor placed near the center rear of the room, we were able to setup a 4-corner lighting setup which once dancing begun, really brought the party vibe to the room.
Mady and Cody couldn't have asked for a better day and we're so happy to have been there to help them celebrate their wedding day. Congrats!

My team and I have been working weddings every weekend since April and often times when arriving to a venue we've never worked before we ask the question, "who puts a venue at the end of the really long gravel road that leads to nowhere?" Though I promise it's more of a running joke because these gravel roads lead to slices of paradise that you didn't even know could exist. Moss Vineyard is this in every single regard. Owned and operated by Barry and Ellen Moss, their vineyard shares the same property and views as their personal home (and crazy sweet sweet swimming pool I must add). Once getting settled It was not hard to understand why Elisa and Bill chose Moss at the location for the wedding day. Elisa and I have been communicating for well over a year now since they booked me at the start of 2016, so the build up to this day was pretty long, but oh was it worth it.
I love all weddings, it's why I do what I do and never tire. However there is something sort of wonderful about very small weddings and getting this unadulterated invitation into their life for a day. In my world that is 50 people or less, and in Bill and Elisa's case, that was 38 of their dearest human beings. And oh were they all wonderful. Their ceremony took place at the end of the vines with honestly one of the sweetest ceremonies I've witnessed in my 15 years of working and DJing weddings. From the father of the bride Billy (who is my new favorite person I might add) who sang two songs, including Peter Gabrial's "Book of Love" with all the guests singing along, to their vows to each other to also help make their community better together, to even a little dancing, it was wonderful to watch. The dinner hand toasts from friends, siblings, and both sides parents, then dancing carried everyone into the night. The evening ended with everyone departing on a white school bus, and then all the vendors including the vineyard owners taking a break during breakdown and load out to watch the International Space Station fly over through the night sky. It was basiclly just a perfect day that I was so grateful to be apart of.
With that, we provided DJ services, our super high output compact PA system and ceremony sound support as well as audio support for the father of the bride who sung and played guitar.
To Elisa and Bill, their guests, family, and friends. Thank you for letting me be there for every joyous minute. Congrats to the bride and groom.
PS, if you look at the photos below and see the chef setting up the tables? Yes that is a table measure making each napkin setting the same in every way. Can we can talk about attention to detail? That's the next level love for your clients we love to see from other vendors.

I always love it when I get to know my wedding couples beyond the landscape of emails. In the modern world you do get to know people pretty well in text form however I had the pleasure to chat with Jess and Drew on the phone a few times, video call as well as meet in person for a venue walk through. With that by the time I arrived to their wedding I wasn't there with just my clients but among friends. The evening started promptly at 6:45pm just as the sun dipped behind the trees casting the most perfectly timed curtain of shade on the ceremony site down by the creek in the field beyond the cidery. Once they said I-Do, everyone made their way up the hill and carried the evening into the night.
We had another first at Drew and Jess' wedding. We provided our ceremony sound support, but we also provided a mobile generator that is not available for rent to give power at the ceremony site! It's no louder a running car so it was perfect. We also setup up our wireless battery powered LED uplights outside in the reception around adding some lovely light to the stairs of the cidery deck. It was a lovely view both in decor and watching everyone have an amazing time.

You couldn't ask for a more wonderfully intimate location than The Local in the Belmont neighborhood in Charlottesville for a small wedding full of your closest friends and family. That is what Michael and Erin chose to do for their beautiful May wedding ceremony and reception. With a white tent doubling as the ceremony location and dinning area, and wine room for dancing, this wedding felt anything but small. The grooms father officiated the ceremony, then later gifted the couple to a song (the man can sing!), it was a wonderful night. Thanks to Micheal and Erin for including us and letting us provide sound, lighting, and DJing for their wedding day, we couldn't have asked for a better way to spend such a beautiful spring day.
Man, where to start. We don't like to play favorites, we spend hours communicating with all our wedding clients, endless emails, phone calls, in person meetings, video calls/faceTime. We get to know our brides and grooms pretty well however, some clients ask us to pull out every rabbit in our event production hat we have to help make their dream wedding come to fruition. This is also known as our "Bespoke Booking" option when our prebuilt packages just won't fit your true wants for your wedding day and you need a completely custom experience. This was the case for Elizabeth and Brandon Burrow and their amazing New Years Eve Wedding in Roanoke, VA.
Elizabeth and Brandon knew what they wanted, and all I really had to do is let them know how I could fit into their ideas. I really think things clicked between us all when the then, bride to be said, "we want you to DJ on your turntables and after 10pm, we want the place to turn into a night club and you can just do your thing." I mean, Club Wed is one of my speciality and something exclusive to DV-E, but being given almost a green light to have complete creative freedom DJing in a night-club format at a wedding was one of the greatest gifts a client could give me/us.
So what did we actually end off providing for Brandon and Elizabeths wedding? Basically everything we offer. I was DJing our Club Wed option, we provided a expanded Dance lights package with custom programed light show to change the mood throughout the night, we made custom video visuals and a custom countdown clock for the ball drop, room up lighting, Full range room sound, a custom DJ table. We brought EVERYTHING!
I have to be clear, we were just one piece of the puzzle and cannot take that much credit for how successful the night was. The team of vendors put together by the Burrows were top notch and I couldn't have asked for a better group of event professionals to work with and spend my New Years Eve with. I'll list them below, but here are a few photos from that night to show you the amazing design work in a already amazing venue that I just helped complement.
I could gush for days, but I'll just let the photos speak for themselves. We took a few pre-event photos, all the action photos can be credited to the ever talented Tracie Hoprich of Tracie Hoprich Photography. Special thanks to her and the bride and groom for letting me share those photos here on the DV-E blog. Before I share the photos below, thanks again to Elizabeth and Brandon for letting us be apart of such a amazing night!
Pete and Liz's wedding at the Boars Head Inn was small, intimate and full of love from friends and family. You couldn't have asked for a better venue and a better day for them to be joined together. We particularly loved the separate dance room, dinning room, and easy access to the patio over looking the fishing pond outside. What a wonderful day. Congrats to the newly weds!
